Forgiving does not mean forgetting or excusing what happened. It means choosing not to let anger decide the shape of your future.
1 · Name what happened
Acknowledge the hurt honestly first. Skipping straight to "it is fine" often leaves the pain waiting underneath.
2 · Separate forgiveness from trust
You can forgive someone and still keep your distance. Trust returns only when behaviour changes over time.
3 · Forgive yourself too
Many people carry old mistakes for years. Learning from them, making amends where possible and moving on is a loving act.
Reflect: Is there something you are ready to put down?
